I make me a sandwich, an Omelette & Cheese Sandwich!

This is my entry for Slashfood's Sandwich Day since it has been quite a while since I joined any blogger's theme event. This is an easy one - just omelette, cheese and tomato slapped between two toasted slices of multigrain bread. I cannot remembe for sure but I believe this was made for a quick supper sometime last week, so simple, yet satisfying.

That's why I always say a sandwich is a really amazing invention! They are versatile and every so yielding to my every need or craving. Depending on my mood or the weather, I find myself longing for a sandwich of a specific sort. Typically, on a cold dreary day, I yearn for a hot and melty toastie, even better if I had them with some thick, creamy soup. On a hot summery day, nothing beats a sandwich filled with loads of cold, crispy lettuce, thick slices of tomato, aged cheese and whatever is available cold. Sandwiches are not only limitied to savoury combinations because if I feel like something sweet, I simply slather on Nutella like I would do likewise with moisturiser on my dry skin.

It is also just as amazing how I never used to take sandwiches seriously. My only childhood memory is one of fried ham and egg between processed white bread, something I ate only for breakfast. But after 5 years in the States, sandwiches have now taken on a new level of significance and I eat them at any time I wish. I have also evolved from that one combination, into more adventurous and bolder creations. Personally, sandwich fillings that I love includes (not exhaustive though) falafel, hummus, smoked salmon and goat cheese. But my all-time favorite is still cheese and tomato and I constantly try different variations of it. Let me know if you have a good one to share, I will be happy to try it out!

Hi! Your blog always makes me hungry - even when I've just eaten! Try chicken breast shavings, Japanese mayo and cherry tomatos on buttered toast. SOOOO good!
