Look, no Sushi!

Amazing! I can actually use Blogger in the Middle Kingdom. This post was prepared earlier before I departed. Now, I am in the midst of my first trip to China (no, Hong Kong, or that few hours shopping in Shenzhen don't count) and so far so good. At least I have the company of my longest-standing girl-friend (all the way from Primary 1).
And, I have not resorted to my contingency plan (instant noodles) yet. Hee hee.
But the toilets, oh, the toilets!
I shall not spoil your appetite or mood now. To keep your eyes busy while I am away - more Japanese food porn! No prizes for making a right guess as to where the food was from. :)

Japanese tomato - firm, sweet, even better with a bit of salt.

Botan ebi - they were alive a while ago but they did not die in vain.
I enjoyed them very much as the flesh was sweet.

Tsubugai - otherwise known as 'whelk'.
Served sashimi-style, they were tasteless but crunchy like a pickle.

Aka uni - very fresh and mildly sweet.

Chinese don't waste food, huh?

"M's special" - just something Chef Andrew put together.
Diced maguro, salmon, tai and uni with tororo and ground sesame sauce.

Kinki shio - my favourite dish that day.
Part lean and part fatty, the meat was succulent.

Must order this when you are at Tomo and don't offer to share!

Kani kaminabe - the name does not sound too polite.
But what the heck, the crab legs were delicious.

Toro Amiyaki - Seared belly of the tuna in a ponzu sauce.
It would have been better if I had been served right away.

Japanese muskmelon - nothing short of s-w-e-e-t.
